Genius Hour – How to utilize it in your classroom

Product Description

Interested in incorporating Genius Hour into your curriculum? I did and I’ve posted here a full outline, progress tracker and marking scheme. The marking scheme has the student’s names removed but I left the numbers in to show you how I recorded their progress. Everything I used for my classroom’s Genius Hour Project is included. It really is the ultimate inquiry project. The goal was to have my students become experts in something they are passionate about then created a website and TedTalk to display this passion for the class. It fostered learning, collaboration and inventiveness as many students learned skills like video creation and website design on top of the information gained about their topic. The files I’ve uploaded are fully customizable. Experiment, change and do whatever you like to them to make the project suit your classroom and grade level. This project I feel would be great from early elementary to upper years high school with just a few modifications here and there.

Included in the package:
– The project outline
– Progress tracker which I used as a portion of their overall mark
– Marking rubric

I also have a range assignments and lessons/units from other grade levels at my store.

Also, please visit my blog Teach With Fergy for my thoughts on teaching, learning and everything in between.
